Every time I go for a grocery run, shady people in clapped out hondas or clothing keep asking if they want to repair my 740's dents and cracked bumpers (on the spot or not). I received the car in that condition, I've concentrated on getting the electronics and driveline in shape, body work is later. I get irritated when they pull up next to me and get their attention with "yo or "bro". I grew up in a household that says "hello sir" or "hi m'am". Also when they can't take no for an answer bothers me too.
I'm tempted to react to them in this manner next time:
Do any Opponauts have any experience/stories with body damage bros?
Have an E38 wagon for your time.

I've never heard of this phenomenon. I'm equal parts confused, disturbed and intrigued

Tell them that you can fix their dent, too. When they ask what dent, kick their car and run. :D

Have you considered using anti-personnel weaponry sea mines harpoons a bear on a stick pepper spray in order to keep them away from your vehicle?
I don't have any body damage botherings, however I have had the same Jehovah's Witness show up at my house three times. The third time I wasn't home, and he actually asked for me. I have to admire his dedication to the job.

I usually crack my windows a little bit to hear them, my locks always closed. My 740 isn't optioned like james bond's, so I don't have the sport package or mini rocket under the sunroof. I don't have a problem with religious people spreading their word, as long as they are polite, its okay with me.

I sold some PS3 controllers to a bro who complemented me on my "totally sick whip"

I usually go grocery shopping in a urban area and to school in a urban area, we get this a lot. I usually ask what the price is and they get flustered, the same when I ask for a business card or cell phone number.

What's their angle? They want you to leave them the car then they steal it?

They usually drive something like this:
It's more embarrassing than a dent.

A lot of these guys are PDR or Bumper Doc-type repair techs that are either unemployed or just moonlighting. Ask to see their tools. If they are legit, they will have all manner of funky PDR "push" tools. (ETA image)

Its hard to do in a public area that is well lit most of the time, I think they just want to rip you off by saying "Give me $20 and I'll be back with the tools to pull that dent".

They never present anything when I ask what they are going to do. No mention of suction cups, or the need of heating up the metal.

Do you still have the Clown Shoe?

I do indeed, and that's what I was driving. I appreciated the complements, I just could have done without "totally sick whip"

Coming from somebody with family ties to a legit dent removal shop.. This is sketchy as hell.

PDR repair doesn't require heat and shrinking work is usually only needed for larger dents that need conventional repair, anyway. The bumper guys use a heat gun to correct this kind of bumper cover damage:
Trust me, just ask to see their tools. A scammer isn't going to invest in that equipment.

Cool. You've had that for a long time now, no? I know you've had your handle for years, since the bad old days of Jalopnik.

I've had it for 7 years now. I daily'd it for the first 3.5 years or so and now it's a weekend car

This is literally astonishing to me. I DD'd a busted SC400 in Detroit for 2 years with no one ever saying anything like this.
Maybe because I'm so skinny and so white and my exhaust was loud AF, everyone thought I must of been a hard ass.

Actual paintless dent repair and bumper restoration is a real thing. But not in a grocery parking lot.

No entrepreneurs, but my brother used to get a lot of "offers" from hoardes of very sketchy individuals in certain parts of DC when he had my dad's old 750. We're talking MS13, Russian mafia, etc. types. The trick is to just ignore them and hop on the gas if they reach for their pockets.

I like how you are so very confident there will be more times.
